Today virtually all large varicose veins can be treated through an office-based procedure known as Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT, also called “endovenous laser ablation”). The laser does not actually remove the affected vein but seals it. The permanent closure prevents blood from pooling in the vein thus removing the discoloration, bulging and pain.

Endovenous Laser Therapy is a highly effective and safe treatment for varicose veins. The post-procedure recovery is usually uneventful, with patients experiencing minimal discomfort, bruising or swelling. Usually patients are able to return to normal activities within a few days.
